Players Devotion Week 1

Week 1 Theme: New Year, New Focus
Opening Reflection:
A new year feels like a fresh start. New goals. New seasons. New opportunities to grow. But real improvement doesn’t come from wishing—it comes from daily choices. The habits you build now will shape the athlete and person you become this year.
Scripture:
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” — 1 Corinthians 9:24
Devotional Message:
Setting goals isn’t just about wanting to be better—it’s about committing to the work that leads there. God cares about your effort, your attitude, and your discipline. When you set goals that honor Him—like giving your best effort, being coachable, and lifting up teammates—you grow in more than just skill.
This year, don’t just focus on stats or wins. Focus on becoming stronger in discipline, confidence, and character. Success follows athletes who show up prepared, stay consistent, and trust the process—especially when no one is watching.
Reflection Questions:
• What is one athletic goal I want to work toward this year?
• What is one character goal I need to improve?
• How can I honor God through my effort every day?
Players Prayer:
God, thank You for a new year and a fresh start. Help me set goals that push me to grow in both sport and character. Give me discipline to stay consistent, courage to keep going when it’s hard, and humility to honor You through my effort. Amen.
