Players Devotion Week 5 - Focus on Effort, Trust the Results
Share
Theme - Focus on Effort, Trust the Results
Opening Reflection
Every athlete wants results—wins, playing time, stats, recognition. But results are never fully in your control. Effort is. The best athletes learn early that growth doesn’t come from chasing outcomes, but from committing to the process every day.
Scripture
📖 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23
Devotional Message
God doesn’t ask you to control the scoreboard—He asks you to give your best effort. When you focus only on results, frustration and pressure take over. When you focus on effort, discipline and confidence grow.
Effort looks like hustling on every rep, listening to coaching, encouraging teammates, and giving your best even when things aren’t going your way. Results come and go, but effort builds habits that last. If you commit to effort daily, improvement will follow—on the field and in life.
This week, ask yourself: Am I chasing results, or am I committed to giving my best every day?
Reflection Questions
-
Do I let results affect my attitude or effort?
-
What does giving my best effort look like in practice and games?
-
How can I honor God through my effort this week?
Player Prayer
God, help me focus on effort instead of outcomes. Teach me to give my best in every moment, trusting You with the results. Help me grow in discipline, confidence, and character through my daily work. Amen.
