COACH DEVOTION - WEEK 4 Teaching Coachability Through Leadership

🧢 COACH DEVOTION

Teaching Coachability Through Leadership

Opening Reflection
Every coach wants coachable athletes—but coachability is taught, not assumed. Athletes learn how to receive feedback based on how it’s delivered and modeled. Leadership sets the tone for teachability.

Scripture
📖 “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” — Proverbs 20:18

Devotional Message
Coachability thrives in environments built on trust, clarity, and consistency. When athletes understand expectations and feel valued, they are more willing to receive correction. How you correct matters just as much as what you correct.

This week, model coachability yourself. Be open to learning, adjusting, and growing. Athletes notice when coaches admit mistakes, seek input, and remain humble. When you lead with teachability, athletes follow.

Your influence teaches athletes that growth requires listening—and that humility is a strength, not a weakness.

Reflection Questions

  • How do I respond when athletes struggle with feedback?

  • Am I modeling coachability through my own actions?

  • How can I better create a culture of trust and learning?

Coach Prayer
God, help me lead with humility and wisdom. Teach me to correct with clarity, patience, and purpose. Let my leadership create an environment where athletes feel safe to learn, grow, and be coached well. Amen.
