Coach Devotion Week 1

Theme:  New Year, Purposeful Leadership

Opening Reflection:
The start of a new year brings a chance to reset—not just goals for the team, but the tone of your leadership. Coaches help shape the direction athletes take long after the season ends.

Scripture:   “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.” — Proverbs 21:5

Devotional Message:
Goals give athletes direction, but leadership gives those goals meaning. As a coach, the way you frame success matters. When goals emphasize effort, discipline, and accountability, athletes learn how to pursue excellence without losing integrity.
This year, set goals that develop people, not just players. Encourage consistency over shortcuts and growth over comparison. When athletes see a coach who leads with purpose and clarity, they gain confidence, focus, and trust in the process.

Reflection Questions:
• What kind of culture do I want to build this year?
• Are my goals developing athletes or just chasing results?
• How can my leadership better reflect faith and purpose?

Coach Prayer:
God, thank You for the opportunity to lead in a new year. Give me clarity, wisdom, and patience as I guide my athletes. Help me set goals that build discipline, character, and confidence, trusting You with the outcomes. Amen.
